Loch Ness, the Highlands… and the Monster?
Loch Ness and the Highlands: more than 500 km of history and breathtaking scenery
Crossing the spectacular scenery of the Highlands, Scotland’s legendary uplands, this private day tour takes your group to the shores of mysterious Loch Ness, home of the famous monster. However, before we get there, we travel along roads lined with pine forests, crystal-clear lochs, U-shaped glacial valleys and majestic mountains.
A journey through the history of Loch Ness and the Highlands
Along the way, we cross legendary lands where nobles, clans and ordinary people shed their blood for freedom. We will also see castles from another age and traditional whisky distilleries. In other words, Scotland and its incredible history revealed in one colourful brushstroke.
Meanwhile, our historian guide will present Scotland in all its splendour: its cultural, political, economic, geological, social and religious history. Your group will therefore learn about the battles and heroic deeds of figures such as William Wallace (the famous Braveheart — but was it really him?), Robert the Bruce, Rob Roy (the Scottish Robin Hood!) and Mary, Queen of Scots.
Glencoe, Ben Nevis and the Cairngorms
First, we stop at Glencoe, the Glen of Weeping, a place of indescribable beauty with a tragic past marked by betrayal between clans. Then we will see Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK.
We also pass through Cairngorms National Park, where, with a little luck, we may spot the famous Scottish red deer. Finally, the iconic Highland cows (Hairy Coos) and Blackface sheep (Black Face Sheep) keep us company for much of the journey, making the experience even more authentic.
